For all those who don’t know, Dave White is a British artist who primarily documents pop culture. This is his 2nd Size? collaboration, (3rd with Nike) and is particularly different to anything he’s worked on before.
His previous collaborations are pictured below and entail the 2005-2010 Wet Paint Pack consisting of 4 trainers in total, the Wings of the Future Jordan 1 and most recently, the Albion pack, consisting of the two Air Max 95’s based on painting’s White has created of a rabbit and a fox.
For the pack, White was inspired by wildlife after moving to the countryside four years ago. He aimed for a completely abstract look of the shoe and achieved it by layering different parts of both the central painting and opposing painting, then contrasting the glossy artwork with a coarse canvas material.
In an interview with Size?, White confessed:
It’s more than just a sneaker.. It’s got to reflect what I do and why I do it. That’s why it’s special.
The trainer as a whole is beautiful, exceptional attention to detail has been generously paid. From the off-white sole with spare matching laces, the furry suede tongue, the electric blue swoosh to the hot pink air bubbles. And not to mention the box which showcases the painting that the individual shoe was based on with a signature from Dave White himself, and the matching sticker inside. The delicacy and precision stands out completely and no corners have been cut when crafting this pack.
I bought mine in a mens UK size 6 as the women’s 6 sold out instantly. They fit slightly smaller to size however I can usually fit in a UK 5.5 anyway so this wasn’t a problem for me. These are my first 95’s ever and they’re so cosy, I’ll definitely be investing in more.
I can’t wait to wear these in winter with baggy woollen trousers and big jumpers, but they’ll look cool in summer months too- with a tan, crisp white shirts and some vintage denim. For anyone who’s interesting in buying, there’s still limited pairs of the Fox on Size?.
